For individuals who wish to replace missing teeth, dental implants are available at our practice near Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg MD, and may be an effective long-term solution. Dental implants serve as the artificial root to which new teeth are attached. Dental implants are typically constructed of titanium, a strong and safe material that effectively attaches to bone. The procedure to insert dental implants at our Montgomery County area practice typically involves three steps: the implant insertion stage, osseointegration (the period of healing for the jawbone), and the attachment of the restoration or new tooth.

A simple way to improve the appearance of your smile cosmetic bonding uses a natural-looking material to fill in gaps between teeth and to repair chips and cracks. Bonding of teeth does not typically require the removal of any tooth structure, making it a good alternative. The composite material used for tooth bonding comes in many different shades, so it can be matched precisely to the color of your teeth. The result is a natural-looking means of restoring your smile that can be completed in a single appointment.
When a tooth is cracked, broken, chipped, or badly decayed, a dental crown may be the best solution. A dental crown is used to protect and cover a damaged tooth to restore its functionality. Crowns can also be used to cover dental implants, or to cover a tooth after root canal therapy. When appropriate, Dr. Gerry Dubin provides beautiful porcelain crowns that look so realistic that we can use them in cosmetic dentistry for a smile makeover. Dental bridges are one of the more common tooth-replacement options. Bridges have the advantage of being an attractive option for replacing a missing tooth (or a few missing teeth). Bridges anchor an artificial tooth between the surrounding natural teeth, restoring the patient’s oral functionality. If you are considering tooth-replacement with dental bridges, contact our office to schedule a complimentary consultation.
Until recently, dentists filled and sealed cavities exclusively using a silver and mercury amalgam. Unfortunately, these fillings (or restorations) often weaken teeth due to the large amount of the original tooth that has to be removed. Modern dentistry has increasingly turned to composite fillings as a strong, safe and more natural looking alternative. Composite fillings utilize a soft white plastic substance that includes a hardening agent.
Replacing large fillings on back teeth often requires a stronger and properly contoured restoration. These restorations are called inlays or onlays, depending on their size. These restorations need to be custom-made at an off-site dental lab and two visits may be required. Once the dental office receives the custom inlay or onlay, the patient returns to the dentist’s office, where they are bonded into place. Onlays protect teeth similarly as crowns but conserve more natural tooth structure.
Our office has performed thousands of successful inlay and onlay procedures.
